This is a full-time position working between 32-45 hours a week Monday through Friday during the summer break. 

This position does not receive any benefits except paid holidays.  If the candidate is local and wishes to work during other parts of the year that is negotiable.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES will include the following:

•    Will be assisting in Accounting department within various departments learning about the lumber industry and assisting personnel in daily tasks.  Departments include Credit, Accounts Payable, Inventory, Invoicing, etc.

•    Will be assisting in Transportation department by working with manager in booking trucks to pick up and deliver lumber to customers.  Will be assigned other duties and tasks.

•    Project work as assigned by Controller along with other duties.  

•    Strong math skills. Calculate numbers. Filing of documents. 

•    Intern will have the opportunity to work with lumber trading floor to understand the business and potentially be hired on as a full-time lumber trader if the individual possesses the right skills and experience once they graduate from college.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma is required.  Current student in college who is on track to complete their Bachelors or Associate’s degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND/OR ABILITIES

  • Strong interpersonal communication skills – must be able to maintain cooperative relations with department personnel, customers, mills and Traders.

  • Excellent attention to detail and exceptional accuracy skills.

  • Ability to calculate and understand mathematical concepts.

  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office tools.

  • Ability to collect data, identify and define problems and create effective solutions

  • Strong interest in working for a lumber, trade, materials organization.  

  • Positive attitude with willingness to learn and be trained on company’s accounting and business software is a must for this position. 

  • Must follow company processes and controls in place to ensure operating company stays in full compliance with annual audits. 

  • In addition must have a high level of attention to detail and work well with others.  Fast paced environment with high volume of transactions.
